Various – I ♥ Real Deep House

April 27, 2015 in Albums

I Heart Real Deep House TronicsoleThe clue’s in the title with this compilation from long-running Scottish label Tronicsole.

At least, it is musically… which is just as well cos it’s about the only clue they’ve given me! But as far as I can make out, the 24 tracks here are a mixture of brand new material and stuff that’s been out, both on Tronicsole and on other labels, over the past few years. Opener Ruby Likes Dubstep by HiRO, for instance, came out on 2013’s Neptune EP, though I think the Kris Wadsworth rub featured is new.

Names like Milton Jackson, Dominic Martin, Sei A and Spin Science will carry weight for anyone who’s been into deep house for more than five minutes, and the collection as a whole is rather spiffing, to be fair. Highlights for this reviewer include Milton Jackson’s vaguely early-Daft-Punkish Long Circuit, Spin Science’s dreamy, Detroit-tinged All Things, the stripped-down funk of Tony Free’s Deep Soul and the lo-slung Alabama Blues-y throb of Peter O & Monophunk’s No Justice, but really you’d be best advised to dive on in and explore for yourself, because if you, too, ♥ real deep house, you’ll find plenty to ♥ here.

Out: Now (but only since Friday)

About: You can find Tronicsole on Soundcloud, on Facebook or at their own website.
