Sinan Kaya – Vague

June 1, 2015 in Singles

Sinan Kaya Vague Sound Vessel RecordsNo fewer than five mixes to choose from on this offering from Sound Vessel Records, a San Diego-based label who make their TIWWD debut with this.

Istanbul producer Sinan Kaya (who certainly has featured on TIWWD before) is the man at the controls, with his original mix of Vague being a soulfully-infused deep houser with falsetto male vox that, now I come to think of it, would play nicely with the Marcus Raute single below. The DisLike Remix is smoother and more late-night, James Benedict nods to classic Chi-town deepness on his rub while Jonny Bee ups the tempo a notch and beefs up the drums on a mix that’s surely aimed straight at Ibiza dancefloors.

But the pick of the crop for me is the stripped-back, dubby Processing Vessel Remix – it’s a 4am dancefloor journey and no mistake guv’nor!

Sinan Kaya – Body Groove EP

March 22, 2015 in Singles

Sinan Kaya Body Groove EP Something ElseThree more prime house slices here, this particular triptych coming to you courtesy of Something Else.

Body Groove itself gets the ball rolling, with garage-y keys and what I think is actually an original rap vocal (as opposed to the 1,000s of sampled ones around right now). Sugar Freak which follows has a slammin’ early 90s New York kinda feel, appropriately retro pianos and a “la-la-la-la” female vocal, while completing the EP is Sunshine, a version of the Eddy Grant/Rockers Revenge classic Walking On… that veers towards the kind of off-kilter disco you’d associate with Levan dubs or Arthur Russell productions.

Body Groove takes the gold for me.

Sinan Kaya – If You Really Want Me EP

July 20, 2013 in Singles

Sinan Kaya If You Really Want Me EP Something DifferentA five-track EP from the ever-checkable Something Different.

The title track is a summery deep/tech groover with a heavily-treated female vocal intoning the title atop a gently throbbing bassline and, as the track progresses, some understated 90s-style organs, while You Beauty is a male-vocalled deep garage outing accompanied by a stripped down, tuffened up RealBirds Remix. But the standout by far here is Sunday Dancing, which takes a hefty chunk of the vocal from You Make Me Feel Mighty Real, filters it within an inch of its life and places it atop a sparse, jazzy backing, all live double-bass and brushed snares, that’s reminiscent of 24 Hour Experience’s classic Together. An Elias Tzikas Remix then ups the dancefloor ante with its blend of vintage Chi-town and New Jersey flavas.
