Jelly For The Babies – Down Low

January 10, 2015 in Singles

Jelly For The Babies Down Low Submarine VibesDeeper but still very floor-friendly house vibes now from Sarajevo-based label Submarine Vibes.

In its original form, Down Low is a mid-paced chugger predicated around a nagging synth/piano riff, barely-there fragments of female vocal, insistent top-end percussion and warm, understated but nonetheless enveloping bass. Canada’s Dustin Nantais heads deeper, dropping the superfluous percussion and opting instead for mournful trumpets and a hefty sample from a Gandhi speech, while Serbia’s Kristina Lalic goes in the opposite direction and serves up a pounding techno refix.

The latter’s a good example of its genre but not really for this blog. The other two rubs certainly are, though – Dustin’s mix especially.

Out: This week on Beatport, everywhere else from 21 Jan.

About: You can find Submarine Vibes – who are just 10 releases old, including this one – on Soundcloud, on Facebook or at their own website.
