In its Original form, Heartless is an intense, dark and brooding cut with energy to spare, centred around a rasping, pulsing bassline and a rave-y “you’ve got to live to be free” female vocal sample. The Adrian Oblanco Remix is lightly prog-tinged and a little less ominous in tone, while Frankie Delgado takes us into deeper, funkier house territory.
The druggy, 4am bass-faced Original just nudges it for me, but this is a very strong package all round.
