Edmund – Someone Like You

March 11, 2013 in Singles

Edmund Someone Like You Lens Media MusicIt’s shaping up to be another of those weeks… for some reason the reviews pile always seems to be tallest in those weeks when the day job and life in general are at their most hectic! So still ploughing through a huge pile of new tuneage in a wheat/chaff sorting stylee and I’ll do as much as I can, but right now here’s one that definitely can’t get overlooked, coming as it does from long-term Edmund.

In its original form, Someone Like You (nothing to do with the Adele ballad in case you were worrying!) is pretty damn near perfect in my books, a sumptuous, lazy-groovin’ affair with handclaps, tinkling jazz ivories and cut-up female vocal snips a-gogo that you can file under ‘deep house’ or ‘deep garage’ as you see fit. And then we come to the small matter of a whopping FIVE remixes. Coming from Disclosure Project, Chris Minus, The Messenger, Zeque and DEF Mike, between them these cover various deep house styles ranging from techy to dubby (not to mention an added verse from Byron in the case of the Minus mix!) so if you play deep house AT ALL you should find something to spin.

That is, if you can get past that utterly ace Original… I’m not sure I can. Class in a glass.
